Formed in 1789 Union Fire Company of Carlisle is among the oldest fire companies in the nation and believed to be the oldest continually operating volunteer company in America.

The company covers all of Carlisle Borough with a very large mutual aid district in the outlaying townships. This engine was designed and purchased to fill the rural mutual aid role.

The unit was conceived as a engine with the aerial device added as an additional resource. Funding for this unit was made possible by the 2002 Federal Fire Grant program.

The configuration of the right side of the body included dropping the traditional compartments to allow for an off set hose bed. This allowed space for 1300 feet of 5' hose. A second divider contains a 3" pre-connect

To aid in it's primarily rural role the company wanted to carry as much water as possible. The engineers at KME got creative and fit 710 gallons on the rig. The tank is mounted higher then most, the diamond plate area just below the aerial device conceals the tank.

The fill tower clarifies the mounting of the tank
