3 Bells in East Berlin Borough

Photos and Story by PaFirefighter

This stubborn fire broke out a Penn Wood in East Berlin Borough, mid-afternoon and quickly reached 3 alarm status. The incident was hampered by the communities water system which was rapidly overtaken requiring a large tanker operation. At the height of the fire 15-20 tankers shuttled water from two different fill sites to two fold-a- pond operations near the fire. The East Berlin Fire Department was familiar with this property after responding to dust collector fires at the facility in the past. This familiarity aided in saving approximately 30-40 percent of the fire building along with inventory stored with in.
