As you should be aware by now, we are very pleased that specific legislation has passed the Senate to address incentives to help mitigate the recruitment and retention issues for fire and ems across Pennsylvania. Senator Baker took the lead on the Tax Credit legislation and Senator Waugh provided legislation for educational incentives. Full News

The Pennsylvania Senate today passed legislation that will greatly affect the recruitment and retention of Fire and EMS volunteers across Pennsylvania. Senator Dinnaman's legislation, SB1169, an Act providing for municipal volunteer emergency responder incentives, which permits local governments to give a tax credit on local earned income taxes to volunteer fire and ems responders, passed the Senate today with a vote of 50-0. Full News

The application period for the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) is open until June 30. The CEDAP is an important component of the Department of Homeland Security’s preparedness efforts. The program aids smaller jurisdictions and eligible urban areas by directly transferring specialized commercial equipment, equipment training, and equipment technical assistance to enhance regional response capabilities. FY 2008 funding is valued at $16 million. Full News
